After surviving the world of single parenting, acting as mediator to offspring conflicts and juggling the demands of full time work, it’s time to turn the focus on getting to know me again. The kids are all happily forging their way through adulthood relatively unscathed and I have a great group of friends who welcome the ‘singleton’. I am in good health and have decided to make the most of my ‘middle years’ and experience some travelling. Although I am not able to ‘throw the towel in’ at work so to speak and live a life of travel with no regular income, I am able to spend time researching and planning trips that are affordable, as well as seeking advise from those who have already experienced the places that I plan to visit.
I have been happy to take off on the occasional road trip over the last few years, staying in bunk barns, visiting campsites with stays in the occasional B&B, as well as being part of organised European walking holidays, which have all been great experiences. However it’s time now to cast the net wider and explore some of the wonderful places that I have long wished to visit. I hope that this space will give you some guidance in terms of me doing the ‘donkey work’ for you through research and give you some insight into the countries and cultures that I experience, as well as hopefully giving some of you the confidence to take the bull by the horns, embark on your first ‘solo trip’ and experience the pleasure of having just your own needs to consider !
